Love Reddy Story
Love Reddy is based in the small town of Rayalaseema and is about Narayana Reddy(Anjan Ramachandra) who is 30 years old but has yet to tie the knot. Reddy is so adamant that he will not marry anyone just for the sake of marriage. One fine day, he falls for Divya(Srvanani Reddy). At first, she ignores him but things change after the entry of Arun. Who is this Arun? How did he change the story? and did Love Reddy find his lady love at the end? That forms the story.
Love Reddy Review
Smaran Reddy has directed Love Reddy and he chooses a routine romantic drama and narrates it in an even ordinary manner. The main lead is called Love Reddy in his village as he is head over heels for the heroine all the time. This sums up the entire first half of the film. The romantic angle, the hero going after the heroine like there is no tomorrow is showcased in a very routine manner.
The length of the first half is a tad long and one gets restless to understand when the actual twist in the tale will arrive. Only during the pre-interval, do things take a steep turn and things make some sense. It is only in the second half, that Love Reddy starts making some sense.
A few twists that are unleashed are quite good and have been handled quite well by the director. These twists are well-written and make the proceedings interesting. But once these are revealed, the film once again becomes predictable and routine for the audience.
The director adds a few social issues to Love Reddy and handles them quite well. After a point, the love story is narrated amidst the social issues which are nothing novel though they hold your attention. The screenplay is one of the biggest villains as the film does not hold your attention much.
Though the setting is neat, the tension is not built up much. Coming to the performances, Anjan Ramachandra is very good as Love Reddy. The way he showcases his emotions in tense situations in the second half is quite good for a young actor who is new to Telugu cinema.
Shravani Reddy also got a key role and was good. Though she looks rustic in the beginning, once the film nears its end, she does well and shocks us with her emotional performance. N T Ramaswamy was also seen in a key role and does what is required in the narrative. The background score of the film is quite good and elevates the proceedings well.
The score composed during the tense moments is quite cool. The camerawork showcasing the small-town setup is neat. The editing is not that great as Love Reddy could have been even crisp in the first half. Also, how the action episodes are designed is not that good.
In a way, the director Smaran has written a routine subject and has added a few twists that impress. He has extracted good performances from his cast but his screenplay is a lot to be desired. He does not make you sit with his narrated and make Love Reddy jaded in many areas.
Love Reddy Verdict
On the whole, Love Reddy is a routine romantic drama that has only a select few moments that click. The rest of the proceedings are ordinary and have nothing new to showcase.
